The crowd lowered their glasses and just as the guests began to converse again, he grabbed the microphone. After just being crowned the first King of the new Krewe of Assisi, I assumed he was going to give a quick speech thanking the guests for attending and the board for selecting him as the new King. Instead he said something very different. “I know the invitation may say this party is over at 6:00, but it’s not! So DON’T LEAVE! Please, stay as long as you like,” he announced. Mr. Sullivan had not only been crowned King, he had also opened up his home as the venue for this Royal Reveal. The gorgeous Wyoming Plantation, sitting among hundreds of azaleas and oak trees, is one of St. Francisville’s many hidden gems. Sure, this town is full of beautiful properties, but it isn’t just the stately oak trees, azaleas and homes, that make this small town so great, it’s the people who live there!
Mr. Sullivan’s warm invitation to the guests, to stay and enjoy themselves, is just the kind of embrace you’ll find in St. Francisville. This is a place where friendship and community are in the hearts and souls of every person. A place where the “small town” way of life is far more meaningful than the number of strip malls or big box retailers. You won’t find that here! This year, like every year, residents in the area were looking for ways to bring the community together, have a good time, and raise money for a good cause. Well, here in south Louisiana when you hear the words “good time” you think Mardi Gras, so that’s exactly what they did! The all new Krewe of Assisi is here and the residents started the Mardi Gras season off early with the Royalty Reveal. King and Queen, Dukes and Duchess’s were all announced as a part of this new adventure to bring people together and support local community efforts! The Krewe of Assisi Ball will be held, on February 7, 2020 at Hemingbough.
